Hey y’all. We’re finishing up the school year which means more shows and stuff happening once summer arrives. A few noteworthy things occurring in our camp:
First:Recordingsare going to happen this May; a whole EP will be done and hopefully pressed to 10” or 12” vinyl by fall/winter 2012.
Second: We have decided that until Portland comes together to work on better all-ages options (which we’d be happy to help in) we are going to be playing almost exclusivelyall-ages, as only one of us is 21, and the date by which all members of Hausu will be of age isJuly 24th, 2013. That is a while off and we’re tired of getting kicked out of venues after we play. This established, here is a list of shows we’re playing in the near future.
April 17th - Laughing Horse Books (Portland, OR) with Merchandise from Tampa, FL.
—- We’re super excited for our first public all-ages debut of the new set, especially with such an incredible band as Merchandise. Includes ex-member of Cult Ritual and Neon Blud (I think..) David Vassalotti, who recently released an incredible solo record under his own name.
Here’s a video of an older Merch. song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFXnRBDvM0U “I Locked the Door”
April 26th - Lewis and Clark College (Portland, OR)
—- Fairly sure this is for the student body only, but perhaps not. We’ll find out. This is the end of the year party for L&C, featuring a number of student bands. We’re excited to check out whats going on musically at our peer-institution. You ought to be to, and if you can make it, its gonna be fun I bet.
May 21st - In Other Words Feminist Bookstore (Portland, OR) with Broken Water from Olympia, WA and Tombstalker
—- This is gonna be Broken Water’s LP release show for Portland; they’re doing a west coast tour to celebrate their new record, which promises to explore new territory for the group. We played our first show back after the hiatus with them, and it was rad. See them in a cool, small environment before the world catches on. Tombstalker seems cool too, I think I caught a bit of their set at FOC fest last year. Heavy shit. Gonna rule.
May 31st - Reed College (Portland, OR) Reunions
—- This is probably open to the public and totally gonna be worth coming to. Drunken alums from all years past go ham for New Rock Music. Oletsdoit.
June 1st - 360 Glen (Vancouver B.C. Canada) with Weed
—- Weed’s first show back in Vanc after a North American tour. They rule obviously, and I hear that Paul B. honorary third guitarist and friend of the band (and ours too!) will be joining them. If you’ve seen Weed before, you know that they’re one of the best bands in the country right now, and if you’ve seen them withthree guitarists, you know that you CANNOT miss this show. Make the trip. Opening bands/other bands to be announced.
July - sometime - PDX Pop Now! festival.
—- we played last year early in the day and despite that, it was an awesome show. This year promises to be even better, hopefully we’ll play a little later in the night or something.
More showsare gonna get booked; we’re hoping to play inOlympia, Seattle and San Francisco / Oaklandin the early summer. As information comes to us, we’ll transmit it via our presence here on the web.
New songs and a new cover are in the works.
We’re also going to make shirts this summer. Seriously. the world’s most merch-less band will have stuff to sell someday.
Love,
Ben / Alex / Santi / Carl
